The development at Park Valley Mills comprised the construction of two new industrial units on a former Victorian textile mill site. A number of existing industrial buildings were demolished to clear the site for the construction of the new buildings.
A desktop study and onsite investigations were carried out to identify the likely historical services and structures that would be encountered during the works including an abandoned mill race. Due to the site being underlain by a relatively large amount of soft water bearing strata, vibro stone columns were installed as a cost effective and efficient foundation solution beneath the pad foundations and structural slabs to the various industrial buildings.
